What is Digital Pulp 3.0?

This is a place where short story writers of every genre and level of ability can post their fiction online without having to deal with editorial intrusion. It was designed to jump the hump which stops people from reading online, provide writers with much craved feedback on their work, and squeeze a few extra miles out of the ink of what we writers write.

Also among its more unique features are....

  • A Scroll-Free Story Reader - designed to keep longer stories from wearing out a reader's eyes and patience. Its fonts and layout can be adjusted for the seeing impaired.
  • On Site Bookmarking - the website, not your browser, can be used to keep track of what you are reading. One click doesn't just take you back to the story you were reading but to where you left off.
  • Manuscript Tracking - in the endless quest to be put in print, Digital Pulp offers an easy way of keeping track of where your stories have been sent and how they have fared.
  • A Book Binder - it doesn't actually print out a bound book, but it does take the stories you have online and compile them into a single manuscript that can be sent to a publisher.
  • Watchlists - this is a bit like MySpace's Friends function, but with a bit more sincerity. When you put an author on your watchlist you get a message whenever they post a new story or journal on the site, helping you keep watch on what they have been doing.
  • Journals - Not just for keeping track of your life, the journal is a good way of sending out a message to everyone watching you on the site - such as where and when a certain booksigning might be taking place.
  • Writing Circles - Do you have a story which isn't finished yet or has such a hot idea you are afraid it will be stolen? Yet you still crave feedback from the writers you trust? Form writing circles and limit the number of people who read your work.
  • Reads & Review - A communal way to write and recommend and talk about what you have been reading off the site.
  • Communication Control - So you are the next Stephen King and spine shakingly afraid of the flood of feedback you might get from a site like DigitalPulp, yet you still want to use the site. By specifying a Communication Method in your profile you can politely spigot on and off the communication you stand to get and from whom (everyone, only those on your watchlist, or no one).
  • And Much Much More!

Joining Digital Pulp is free, however you are limited to posting only three stories and five journals per month. A yearly subscription costing just $10 lifts these restrictions and allows you access to the Book Binder as well as the option to remove the ads from the site.

About the website's creation: Digital Pulp was the product of a New Years resolution that was somehow followed through to completion. It opened on the web in May of 2004 and paved the way for these other excellent sites.
