If you are looking at this page and actually seeking Help - 99.9% of the time - your problem is a matter of Browser Incompatibility.
Writers Oasis uses a ton of javascript programming and CSS layout, all within the confines of W3C standards. This means that it should look
the same on all web browsers which support W3C standards. All of the best browsers do this with the notable exception of Microsoft Internet
Explorer which apparently enjoys living off in a little world of its own.
If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer (or any other browser which is not W3C compliant) do yourself a favor and download one of these
great free browsers which we thoroughly test the site on:
Cookies
Cookies are another problematic necessity. If you find yourself unable to sign into the site, that is probably because you have some security program
which is blocking our attempts to place a cookie on your browser. Quite frankly, if there were some other way of making sure you are who you say you are
then we would use it. Until then the site requires the use of local cookies and an exception for us will need to be made with your security software.
So far as our cookie policy is concerned. We don't care what you do or where you go outside of Writers Oasis and will never use cookies to track you (actually
we don't even know how that works to tell the truth).
Pop-ups
Once again, if we could find a decent way around it, we wouldn't do it. Writers Oasis uses pop-up forms for things such as making comments and leaving
replies. This may come into conflict with security software you are using to block pop-up ads. So if you find yourself clicking on a Reply button and nothing
seems to be happening, check your security software and make sure it's not blocking pop-ups for this site.
So far as our pop-up policy is concerned. We don't use or allow popup ads.
Fly Over Help
And right here you would read a blurb about how this section works.
In the past we used to have reams upon reams of help files which existed to tell people how the site works. Then we realized that nothing is more annoying
than bouncing back and forth between a help page and the page you are trying to work with, so we came up with "Fly Over Help." When you see a blue title like
the one on this section, run your mouse over it. A small box containing helpful information for the task at hand will appear.
You can also try clicking on the top link of each menu item. These lead to pages which give you a quick run-down on what each of the sub-menu items do.
